You will be pleased to learn that your Committee now has three new members! The new members were invited onto the Committee in accordance with the Rules. The new members are Dr Rosemary Hollow, Anne Quinane and Dr Ann Kent.  All our new Committee members bring highly relevant experience and involvement with Albert Hall and the Committee is delighted that all accepted the invitation to join the Committee!  We have also warmly welcomed both Dr Hollow and Anne Quinane as new members of FAH.

 

Rotary Antiques Fair: 19-21 August, 2016

 

Its coming again! The unmissable annual Spring Rotary Antiques Fair in Albert Hall. This time the fair is on Friday 19 August 2016 (6pm to 9pm); Saturday 20 August 2016 (10am to 5pm); and  Sunday 21 August 2016 (10am to 4pm). Each year the proceeds of the Fair support a local charity and this time it will be the Tara Costigan Foundation, which helps victims of domestic violence. Organ Concert: 31 August, 2016

 

On Wednesday 31 August, the Theatre Organ Society of the ACT will host a concert from 7.30 to 9.30pm in Albert Hall. The concert will feature David Gray on the Compton Organ along with the piano. According to the TOSA website, David Gray, from the UK, “has made many theatre organ appearances throughout the UK, USA, Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia and has been the recipient of Theatre Organ Awards in the UK and in USA as a young organist from 2005 onwards. His 2009 and 2013 Australian tours were a musical sensation. In 2015 he received the 2015 Organist of the Year Award from the American Theatre Organ Society”. Living Green Festival: 2 October 2016

Jane Austen Festival: 21-23 April 2017

Bookings are already being taken for the annual Jane Austen Festival in Albert Hall. “Austen and Napoleonic fans from all over Australia come and indulge themselves in everything Regency – including dancing, music, food, games, archery, fencing, theatre, promenades, grand balls, talks, workshops, costumes and books”. Begun in 2008 “this little festival has blossomed into one of the most delightful weekend anyone could experience each April in an old and beautiful part of Canberra”.
